About This Role
Our client, a leading EPC contractor delivering subsea field development projects across the Asia-Pacific region, is seeking a Flow Assurance Engineer to join their subsea engineering team. Based in Kuala Lumpur with project travel to Singapore, this role will focus on the technical analysis and design strategies required to ensure reliable hydrocarbon flow from reservoir to process facilities throughout the lifecycle of deepwater subsea developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute flow assurance studies covering steady-state and transient flow analysis for subsea pipeline systems
- Perform hydrate management strategy development including insulation, chemical injection (MEG/HI), and buried pipeline concepts
- Conduct wax deposition and asphaltene precipitation risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures
- Execute thermal analysis for subsea pipeline systems including heat transfer modelling and slug flow analysis
- Use OLGA, PIPESIM, or equivalent software to simulate multiphase flow behavior under varying operating conditions
- Collaborate with subsea hardware engineers to integrate flow assurance requirements into umbilicals, SCMs, and EPU design
- Prepare flow assurance basis of design documents and technical reports for client and regulatory review
- Support commissioning and start-up phases with flow assurance input and operational procedure review
- Perform life-of-field flow assurance monitoring and performance optimisation recommendations
Core Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of flow assurance or process engineering experience in offshore oil & gas
- Proven proficiency with OLGA, PIPESIM, or similar multiphase flow simulation software
- Strong understanding of multiphase flow phenomena: hydrate formation, wax deposition, sand erosion, and slug flow
- Experience with thermal insulation systems (pipe-in-pipe, concrete weight coating) and heat tracing concepts
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Petroleum, or Mechanical Engineering
- Familiarity with subsea production systems and FPSO process interfaces
- Experience developing and implementing hydrate management and shut-in restart procedures
- Excellent technical report writing and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with deepwater subsea tieback projects (water depth >1,000m)
- Knowledge of subsea chemical injection systems and umbilicals
- Familiarity with MPFM (Multiphase Flow Metering) and instrumentation
- Experience in offshore LNG or FLNG flow assurance would be advantageous
- Advanced degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package
- Performance-based annual bonus
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage
- Professional development support for training and certifications
