FPSO Design Manager

About This Role

We are seeking an experienced FPSO Design Manager to lead the overall design management of FPSO conversion and newbuild projects from Kuala Lumpur. You will be responsible for technical governance, design coordination, and ensuring engineering excellence across all FPSO engineering disciplines.

As Design Manager, you will interface with class societies, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders to ensure designs meet international standards and project requirements. This senior leadership role requires proven experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams on FPSO or similar floating production projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead FPSO design management activities across all engineering disciplines
• Oversee topside layout, hull, and mooring system design coordination
• Ensure compliance with class society rules and regulatory requirements
• Review and approve design deliverables, specifications, and reports
• Coordinate with conversion yards and newbuild shipyards
• Manage design changes and deviation/derogation processes
• Interface with client operations teams on design requirements
• Drive design efficiency and constructability improvements
• Lead design reviews and risk assessments throughout project lifecycle

Core Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Naval Architecture
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in FPSO/FPDSO design and engineering
• Comprehensive knowledge of FPSO conversion and newbuild processes
• Experience with class society interface (ABS, DNV, LR, BV)
• Familiarity with topside processing systems and hull structural design
• Understanding of mooring systems and station keeping requirements
• Strong leadership and project management capabilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
