Position Overview
The Operations Manager - Offshore is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational performance of offshore producing assets, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production operations. This role coordinates between onshore and offshore teams, manages operational budgets, and drives continuous improvement in production performance. With an expanding fleet of offshore production facilities and increasing regulatory scrutiny, experienced operations managers are in strong demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage offshore production operations to meet safety, production, and cost targets.
- Coordinate between onshore operations support teams and offshore installation management.
- Develop and manage operational budgets, including OPEX forecasting and cost control.
- Drive production optimisation and deferment reduction through reliability improvement and production chemistry programmes.
- Ensure compliance with production consents, environmental permits, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage operational risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.
- Oversee maintenance strategy implementation and reliability improvement programmes.
- Plan and coordinate major maintenance activities, shutdowns, and campaigns.
- Manage relationships with regulatory authorities, partners, and key service providers.
- Develop and mentor operations staff and build pipeline of future operational leaders.
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Mechanical, or Process preferred)
- Certifications: BOSIET/FOET; NEBOSH Certificate; IWCF Well Intervention (preferred)
- Experience: 12–18 years in offshore operations with 5+ years in an operations management role
- Technical Skills: Production operations management; maintenance strategy and reliability; budget and cost management; regulatory compliance; HSE leadership
Preferred
- Experience managing FPSO or floating production operations
- Involvement in operations readiness and assurance (ORA) for new projects
- Knowledge of production chemistry and flow assurance in operations
- Familiarity with digital oilfield and remote operations technology
