Position Overview
The Plant Manager - Offshore is the senior technical authority on an offshore production facility, responsible for the integrity, reliability, and performance of all process and utility systems. This role works closely with the OIM and is focused on the technical management of the plant, including maintenance strategy, production optimisation, and integrity assurance. The combination of offshore rotational work and high technical competence requirements makes this a challenging position to fill.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical integrity and reliability of all process, utility, and safety systems on the offshore installation.
- Develop and implement the maintenance strategy and annual maintenance plan in coordination with the onshore engineering team.
- Oversee the offshore maintenance team and coordinate planned and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure production targets are met through effective plant management and production optimisation.
- Manage the offshore technical team, including discipline engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Coordinate with the OIM on operational decisions, production priorities, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with the safety case and performance standards for safety-critical equipment.
- Manage plant modifications and minor capital projects offshore, including management of change (MOC) processes.
- Oversee integrity inspection programmes and ensure timely close-out of inspection findings and anomalies.
- Support shutdown planning and execution for major maintenance campaigns.
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Process, Mechanical, or Instrumentation preferred)
- Certifications: BOSIET/FOET; OPITO OIM Controlling Emergencies (preferred); Medical fitness certificate
- Experience: 12–18 years in offshore operations and maintenance with 5+ years in an offshore plant management or senior technical authority role
- Technical Skills: Process plant operations and optimisation; maintenance strategy and reliability; integrity management; safety-critical equipment management; MOC processes; shutdown planning
Preferred
- Experience as Plant Manager on FPSO or floating production installations
- Involvement in asset integrity management and RBI (Risk-Based Inspection)
- Knowledge of production chemistry and flow assurance
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance and condition monitoring technologies
