Position Overview
The QA/QC Manager is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the quality assurance and quality control framework for offshore oil and gas projects and operations. This role ensures that all materials, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities meet specified quality requirements, codes, and standards, directly impacting asset integrity and operational reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project quality management plans and quality assurance procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and project specifications
- Establish and manage QC inspection and testing programmes for fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities
- Manage and coordinate third-party inspection agencies and Notified Body involvement
- Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), welding procedures, and NDE procedures
- Oversee welding quality management including welder qualifications, WPS/PQR review, and weld mapping
- Conduct quality audits of fabrication yards, vendor facilities, and construction sites
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Review and approve material certificates, mill test reports, and traceability documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, DNV, NORSOK)
- Manage document control and quality record systems for the project
- Develop and deliver quality training for project and contractor personnel
- Report quality performance metrics and trends to project management
Qualifications
Required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Welding, or Materials preferred)
- Certifications: ISO 9001 Lead Auditor; CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (or equivalent welding inspector); OPITO BOSIET/FOET
- Experience: Minimum 12 years in QA/QC management within oil and gas, with significant offshore fabrication and construction experience
- Technical Skills: Quality management systems (ISO 9001), welding and NDE inspection management, ITP development and review, NCR/CAPA management, ASME/API/DNV code compliance, vendor audit, material traceability
Preferred
- CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
- ASNT Level III or equivalent in NDE methods
- Experience with subsea fabrication QC (flowlines, umbilicals, subsea structures)
- Familiarity with NORSOK and DNV quality requirements
