About This Role
Our client, a tier-one EPC contractor with an established subsea construction and installation capability, is looking for an experienced ROV Superintendent to oversee ROV operations across multiple offshore projects in Southeast Asia. Based partly in Kuala Lumpur with significant offshore rotation, this role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant ROV service delivery from project mobilisation through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all ROV operations including survey, inspection, and work class intervention activities
- Ensure compliance with IMCA guidelines, client HSE requirements, and international offshore regulations
- Manage ROV crews including pilots, supervisors, and technicians — including training, competency verification, and performance reviews
- Oversee ROV tool deployment including torque wrenches, cutters, and jetting equipment for subsea construction tasks
- Conduct pre-dive checks, risk assessments, and permit-to-work processes for all ROV operations
- Interface with client representatives, diving teams, and vessel captains for integrated offshore operations
- Manage ROV equipment maintenance schedules and spare parts inventory
- Compile ROV daily reports, incident reports, and post-project performance reviews
- Support subsea trenching, bundle installation, and cable crossing activities as required
Core Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of ROV operational experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role
- IMCA-certified ROV Supervisor or equivalent with documented pilot hours on work class ROVs
- Proven track record managing ROV operations for subsea construction or installation projects
- Strong knowledge of IMCA M117, ROVAH guidelines, and offshore safety management systems
- Experience with subsea intervention techniques including torque operations and tooling deployment
- BOSIET/HUET and valid offshore medical certificate required
- Excellent leadership skills with experience managing multicultural crews
- Strong report writing and communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Schilling, Triton, or similar high-spec work class ROV systems
- Background in subsea trenching and burial operations
- Knowledge of DP vessel ROV operations and station-keeping procedures
- Familiarity with Southeast Asian regulatory environment (Malaysia, Indonesia)
- Trenching equipment (HUTT or similar) operational experience
