Subsea Umbilical Engineer

About This Role

Join our team in Kuala Lumpur as a Subsea Umbilical Engineer. You will be responsible for the design, specification, and engineering support of subsea umbilicals for deepwater oil and gas developments, ensuring safe and reliable power and signal transmission to subsea infrastructure.

This role provides the opportunity to work on complex umbilicals including hybrid riser umbilicals (HRU) and steel tube umbilicals (STU), interfacing with leading umbilical manufacturers and contributing to project success from FEED through installation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design subsea umbilical systems including cross-section optimization
• Specify umbilical components (steel tubes, hoses, cables, fillers)
• Perform umbilical fatigue analysis for installation and operational phases
• Develop installation analysis and methodology for umbilical deployment
• Interface with umbilical manufacturers on technical requirements
• Prepare umbilical specifications, data sheets, and design reports
• Coordinate with SURF and subsea production system interfaces
• Support factory acceptance tests and offshore installation activities

Core Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in subsea umbilical engineering
• Proficiency with API 17E, IEC 60840, and DNV standards
• Experience with umbilical design software and cross-section tools
• Knowledge of umbilical materials, manufacturing processes, and testing
• Familiarity with dynamic and static umbilical applications
• Understanding of fatigue and life extension assessment for umbilicals
• Strong technical documentation and coordination skills
