Automation Engineer — Qatar

Role Overview

Automation Engineer position in Qatar (tax-free country) with a Major Middle East EPC Contractor. Long-term contract role focused on maintenance of Industrial Control Systems in Petrochemical or Fertilizer Industries. Requires hands-on experience with DCS/ESD Control Systems, Turbo Machinery Control and Protection Systems, and Cyber Security.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation systems for oil & gas or industrial facilities
• Develop control system architecture including PLC, DCS and SIS configurations
• Prepare automation design deliverables including cause & effect diagrams and logic narratives
• Coordinate with process and instrument engineers for control philosophy development
• Support FAT/SAT and commissioning of automation systems
• Review vendor proposals and technical documentation for automation packages
• Ensure compliance with IEC 61511, ISA and relevant automation standards
• Troubleshoot automation system issues and implement improvements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Engineering Degree in Instrumentation / Electronics Discipline (12+4 Years)
• Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in Industrial Control Systems in Petrochemical or Fertilizer Industries
• Hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting experience of:
• Industrial Automation Systems such as DCS/ESD Control Systems
• Turbo Machinery Control and Protection Systems
• Cyber Security Guidelines and Networking
